Tineesha McKay first started her dance career in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School at age 5, taking ballet, jazz and tap classes. Moving from the city, Tineesha grew up in various other dance studios like Praire Soul, Cooks Creek Dance Academy, and the Winnipeg Dance Force, where she danced competitively and achieved gold and silvers in many of her categories.
At a young age, Tineesha discovered that her primary passion in dance was for Hip Hop. While at the Winnipeg Dance Force, Tineesha took Hip Hop, Advanced Hip Hop, Salsa, Latin, and Ballroom. Tineesha also participated in a variety of singing/dancing/acting leading roles in high school musicals while dancing; like the role of ‘Sharpay’ in the Highschool Musical show. In 2015, she attended iDance Convention. Although she enjoyed dancing, Tineesha pursued her greater passion for teaching with her high academic scholarship to the University of Winnipeg. At the University of Winnipeg, Tineesha took education courses and volunteered teaching Hip-hop at the Peaceful Villages Organization to fulfill part of her practicum. Moving to Fort McMurray, Tineesha became a TAS with the Fort McMurray Public School District, teaching different subjects to all grades. Now, Tineesha continues teaching and online education at the University of Manitoba, where she has completed a major in History and minors in Sociology.
Miss Tineesha is thrilled to share her love for dance and teaching at UpTown! Music and Dance & hopes that all dancers have a rewarding and exciting year!
